JEAN-CHRISTOPHE VILAIN
BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1963, JEAN-CHRISTOPHE VILAIN began his musical studies at the age of 11 on the piano. At 15 he chose, as a second instrument, the trombone. At the same time he entered the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, where he studied solfège, harmony and counterpoint.
PARTICIPATIONS & PROJECTS
In 1984 he decided to focus on jazz. He has since been a member of the big bands of Michel Legrand, Patrice Caratini, Gérard Badini, Claude Tissandier, Jean-Loup Longnon, François Laudet, Martial Solal and others.
He's a long-time member of the renowned Claude Bolling Big Band, with whom he has appeared at prestigious jazz festivals such as Nice, Juan-les-Pins, Marciac and Vienne.
On tour with the Bolling ensemble Vilain has performed on five continents.
