CLAUDIO PALLARO
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Geneva in 1964, Italian saxophonist CLAUDIO PALLARO began his jazz studies during a three-year tenure in the workshops of the AMR (Association for the Encouragement of Improvised Music). He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where his professors included Billy Pierce, Joseph Viola, George Garzone, Fred Lipsius, Ed Tomassi and Jerry Bergonzi.
Relocating to Paris, he performed with the Saxtet of Pierre-Marie Bonafos and was saxophonist/composer/arranger with Dis Bonjour à la Dame, an important group in the acid jazz scene of the 90s. An album recorded for EMI followed, and the group toured regularly within France and internationally.
Beginning 1998 Pallaro performed with Benjamin Moussay, Andrea Micchelutti, David Patrois, Frédéric Loiseau, Guillaume de Chassy and bassist Gary Brunton, with whom he founded the PEE-BEE, a 12-piece ensemble, for which he is principal composer and arranger. The group's first album, "Welcome to the Pee-Bee,"received an enthusiastic response from critics.
In 2010 he formed a trio with bassist Bruno Schorp and drummer Luc Isenmann, which allowed him to reassert his role as soloist. The trio recorded a first album, "Desert Dance", in 2012 with guest guitarist Pierre Durand.
